. Introduction to Calendula

Calendula, with the scientific name of Calendula officinalis L, is an annual or perennial plant with stems that reach a height of 20-50 centimeters. It has flat and spoon-shaped leaves, and orange and yellow flowers. 

Geographical distribution:
It is grown throughout Europe and Iran.

Active Ingredients:
The effective substance in Calendula is helenalin, which inhibits NF-kappa B (Transcription) replication factor.


Therapeutic Properties and Effects:
Calendula has anti-flatulence properties for the stomach and intestines, stimulates kidney function and diuresis, increases blood flow and heart activity, and has astringent properties that are useful for preventing digestive system ulcers. The hydroalcoholic extract of mountain marigold is also effective in treating inflammation. In traditional medicine, Calendula is considered to have a cold temperament.
