. Introduction to Stachys Lavandulifolia(mountain tea)

Mountain tea, with the scientific name of Stachys lavandulifolia, is a short, woody plant that reaches a height of 6-25 centimeters. It has multiple knotty stems that are green or almost grayish, cluster-like pink, crimson, and rarely white or yellow flowers covered with long knots. Its green to dark purple tube-like flower cups are covered with stem-like, wide, long, linear or serrated leaves.


Geographical Distribution:
It is found in Iran, Iraq, Turkmenistan, and eastern Anatolia.


Active Ingredients:
It contains chemical compounds such as tannin, hypericin red color substance, and nicotinic acid.


Therapeutic Properties and Effects:

Stachys Lavandulifolia is used as an analgesic for gastrointestinal discomfort. It is a  herb that opens cold-tempered colic, diuretic, and laxative for menstrual periods in women, and dissolves urinary and biliary stones. Eating this plant can expel thick phlegm that has accumulated in the lungs, intestines, or uterus, and eating a mixture of Stachys Lavandulifolia and honey improves sexual potency. It also has calming, antibacterial properties and is useful in treating kidney stones, joint pain, rheumatism, headaches, dizziness, and psychological gastrointestinal and intestinal discomfort.
